May is here, and that means you’ve successfully completed another semester! Whether you are crossing the graduation stage, closing out another year of coursework, or wrapping up a busy semester of work and research, this is a moment worth acknowledging. The Wellness Resource Center wants to take a moment to celebrate the Temple community for taking care of yourselves and each other and seeing this semester through.
To the graduating class of 2026, congratulations! The dedication you brought, the challenges you sat with, and the growth you experienced along the way are all a part of a journey that is uniquely yours. We are so proud of you, Owls!
Wellness Tip: Navigating What Comes Next
Endings and beginnings have a funny way of coinciding. Whether it's a graduation, a new job, a move, a summer with no set routine after months of structure; even the most exciting transitions can bring unexpected feelings of stress, uncertainty, or loss. That is completely normal, and it does not mean anything is wrong with you.
According to Psychology Today, life transitions can induce stress that leads to symptoms like anxiety, fear, and loneliness. Coping skills like building a support network, journaling, and mindfulness practices play a vital role in managing the emotional intensity of change. Here are a few ways to take care of yourself as you step into whatever is next:
Let yourself feel it all. Excitement and grief can coexist. Give yourself permission to feel proud and uncertain at the same time without rushing past them.
Stay connected. The relationships you build matter. Reaching out to friends and family to share your feelings during times of change can provide you with great support.
Create some structure. A summer or post-graduation stretch without a built-in routine can feel disjointed. Setting small, achievable goals and building a loose daily rhythm can help reduce that sense of uncertainty.
Be patient with yourself. Adjusting to a new chapter takes time. Remind yourself that not having everything figured out right away is not a setback; it is just part of the process.
