External condoms are a popular barrier method that works by preventing sperm from entering the body, thus providing protection from unintended pregnancy and STIs. Planned Parenthood has helpful instructions for those seeking to learn how to properly use an external condom.
Trojan ENZ is a standard, external condom. ENZs are made of latex, lubricated with a water-based lubricant, and have a reservoir tip. They are our most popular condom.
Trojan Magnum is an external condom that is 15% larger than the standard size. It is made of latex, is lubricated with a water-based lubricant, and has a reservoir tip.
LifeStyles Ultra Thins are a thinner external condom option, being 21% thinner than the average condom. They are latex condoms lubricated with water-based lubricant and have a reservoir tip.
LifeStyles Non-Latex is made of polyisoprene instead of latex, making it a great choice for those who may have a latex allergy. These are lubricated with a water-based lubricant and have a reservoir tip.
Internal condoms (sometimes referred to “female condoms”) are made of a nitrile sheath and coated in a silicone-based lubricant. They are latex-free and can be inserted up to eight hours before sex. Internal condoms can be used for vaginal or anal sex. This barrier method works by being inserted into the body and provides protection from unintended pregnancy and STIs.
Latex dams are thin, square pieces of latex that act as a barrier when placed over the labia or anus, helping to reduce the risk of STI’s during oral-vaginal or oral-anal intercourse. The CDC has guidance on how to use a latex dam and how to turn an external condom into a dam. The Wellness Resource Center offers latex dams in multiple flavors: vanilla, banana, grape, strawberry, and mint.
Water-based lubricant is offered in 0.11 oz packets that are compatible with latex and polyurethane condoms.
